Integrated Natural Resources and Environmental Management Project (INREMP)

             The Integrated Natural Resources and Environmental Management Project (INREMP) is a 7-Year project of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) being implemented by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). The project was launched last August 2014 upon the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement among the DENR, Provincial Government of Bukidnon and Indigenous People’s Community. The implementation of INREM project is aimed to reduce and reverse degradation of watersheds and associated environmental services caused by forest denudation and unsustainable farming practices, and; to provide incentives to local communities, LGUs and the DENR for improving natural resource management by generating sufficient and tangible economic benefits.

GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

  • Reduce and reverse degradation of watersheds and associated environmental services caused by forest denudation and unsustainable farming practices; and
  • To improve the quality of life of rural communities in the Upper River Basins by sustainably managing natural resources with stakeholder participation; and
  • Provide incentives to local communities, LGUs and the DENR for improving natural resource management by generating sufficient and tangible economic benefits.
  • local institutions will effectively govern river basin resources as an enterprise that generates revenue for conservation and livelihood.
